Living a full life with dentures is easy, once you have adapted to them and made sure they fit securely and comfortably. Learning how to make your dentures stay in place may take you a little while, so to help you out during this new phase of your life, we have collected a few handy denture adhesive tips.
Choose The Best Denture Adhesive According To Your Needs
We offer various formulations of Fixodent that have been developed with over 70 years of laboratory experience. All are easy to apply, and each formula is slightly different to give you the balance of hold, longevity, taste and antibacterial qualities you require. Take a look at our colourful line of denture adhesives here.
Apply The Right Amount Of Denture Fixative
Applying Fixodent denture adhesive is a simple process – it takes a surprisingly small amount to ensure a snug fit and a firm hold. For upper dentures, apply three or four pea-sized dabs of adhesive to the top part of the denture that comes into contact with the roof of your mouth. For lower dentures, do the same around the inside area of your denture. Finally, push your dentures in place and bite down.
If you’ve applied too much, excess cream will ooze out of the dentures as you insert. This is completely harmless, and over time you will get used to applying the right amount to prevent this from occurring. Be sure to check the pack for application instruction.
When To Apply Denture Adhesive
A general rule of thumb here is adhesive can be applied at any time during the day – as soon as you wake up and are getting ready to put your dentures in, or in the middle of the day right before you go out to meet your friend for lunch, but only use the product once per day.
Now that you have the answers to the what, how and when, there’s nothing stopping you from living your life to the fullest, safe in the knowledge that Fixodent will keep your dentures from slipping, whatever you do and wherever you are.
