its horrible, especially when you have all your teeth pulled out. it happened to me in one day, all my teeth pulled and the denture put on the open gums, then i went to the hospital to recover for a week, cedars sanai, in los angeles. i was twenty something years old.

I am THE BIGGEST BABY when it comes to Dentists..I just had my 13 upper teeth pulled this past tues and my dentures put right in....I only had gas and novicaine and it was AWESOME! It was not even CLOSE to what I thought, yeah that day and the next sucked, but by the 3rd day MUCH better....don't be afraid..it is the end result that is the 'carrot' to keep in front of you....it is all in the Dentist and the Oral Surgeon you pick....mine where AWESOME and now I look forward to my visits and I still have more work to do on my teeth....don't be afraid!  I didn't have to go to the hospital or have ANYONE with me...I went to the oral surgeons office by myself, drove myself home...and took NO PAIN medication other than Extra Strength Tylenol PM.  All people are different, that is true....but I don't regret a THING!

I was put to sleep, had my teeth pulled and when I woke up the temporary denture was already in my mouth. My ride was waiting to take me home because I was still woozy and I went home and slept. I think I experienced more discomfort than pain because 1) this temporary denture was new to my mouth 2) I ate soft food and ice cream or shakes as that freezes your gums.

I had 17 teeth extracted  and dentures made (upper and lowers) on April 6, 2010 and I have very little pain on Apr. 10. I am already eating some hard foods carefully. Sexton Dental in Florence S.C. extracted the teeth and made tempory dentures. It was only $675.00 for upper and lower temp. dentures.  There website is www.sextondental.net
